“Christian spiritual direction is help given by one believer to another that enables the latter to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship. The FOCUS of this type of spiritual direction is on experience, i.e., that dimension of any experience that evokes the presence of the mysterious Other whom we call God." The Practice of Spiritual Direction by William A. Barry and William J. Connolly
Our Parish priest, Fr. Francis O'Dowd, is available as a Spiritual Director. His ministry is to be a companion to those seeking a more personal connection with God. He will pray with you, help you recognize the power of the Holy Spirit in your life, and assist you in understanding the obstacles that may be getting in your way.
God has to come first or nothing else will make sense. We all need someone to check in on our progress and to pull us back onto the path when we’ve gotten a little lost or distracted. We all do better with company on that journey. Susan Wells, Program Director, Diocese of Tyler
